Connect Your NBN Internet With MyConnect

Joshua Chadwick By Joshua Chadwick February 22nd

Established in 2009, the National Broadband Network (NBN) is an Australian government-funded open-access data network. The purpose of NBN is to improve our broadband internet service by making it faster and more reliable. Fibre-optic, fixed wireless and satellite services are currently being rolled out across Australia to replace the previous broadband service and connect Australia to the new NBN.

As of January 2022, 12.1 million homes and businesses around Australia have NBN access or construction is underway. The fibre network is now connected to more than 90% of homes and businesses across Australia, including half of all broadband services being delivered to low-population density areas in regional Australia.

Residents who have been connected to the NBN network are experiencing high-speed downloads, internet speeds, and the ability to use multiple web-based programs without experiencing lag. NBN speed in central areas means that businesses can take full advantage of fast download speeds and an operating system that allows multiple people on multiple devices to use the internet at the same time smoothly.

The network technology that the NBN provides amplifies speeds across all line services and mobile networks also, allowing phone services on the same landline to operate at a higher level thanks to the ‘fibre to the premises’ initiative. The network also offers speed tiers for those willing to spend a little more for faster download speeds

All in all, activating NBN has been a big step in the right direction for Australia. It is a big project, but one that has been in high demand for a long time and is running successfully, providing a sustaining internet connection for decades to come.

You can check when the NBN service will be available in your area by going to www.nbnco.com.au or by looking at the network rollout map below.
